Tampa International Airport has begun offering COVID-19 testing in an effort to alleviate safety concerns, aid passengers traveling to destinations that require a negative PCR test and to bypass quarantine requirements. To qualify, passengers must either plan to fly, or must have flown within three days prior to their test.
The airport is partnering with an independent company which will be providing PCR and antigen testing for $125 and $57 respectively. The tests, which will provide results in as little as 48 hours, came as the industry’s requests for federally mandated testing bore no fruit. As our country grapples with the economic impact of COVID-19, airline industry officials are applauding Tampa International’s move as a step forward in restoring confidence in safe travel and promoting financial recovery within the industry.
